Port Dover Power & Sail Squadron members are encouraged to donate blood and to become team members of the Squadron’s “Partners for Life” initiative with the Canadian Blood Services.
Every blood donation makes a difference. Sometimes, it takes multiple donors to save a life. For a patient undergoing cardiovascular surgery, it can take up to five donors to provide a favourable outcome. “While all blood types help patients, O-negative blood is in particular demand by hospitals because it is the only type compatible with all other blood types. When seconds count, someone’s life is on the line, and there’s no time to check blood type, hospital patients in an emergency can all receive O-negative blood.”
To book or change a blood donation appointment today, locate a donor centre, check your eligibility to donate blood and more, download the GiveBlood app available for iOS on the App Store or for Android on Google Play or visit www.blood.ca/.
Squadron members who are already blood donors or who wish to become blood doors, are also encouraged to sign up to be one of our Partner for Life team members.
This is a one-time registration. Once registered, your past and future donations will automatically count towards our donation goal of 25 units of blood no matter where you make your blood donation; please invite family and friends to join our team!
